Dear Fifth Grade Parents and Guardians,

We hope you are enjoying the summer and looking forward to the upcoming school year at PS 170! As we get ready for an exciting 2025-2026 school year, we would like to share the supply list for your child’s fifth-grade year. This year, we will be using a split supply list, with some supplies due in September and the remainder in February. This will help us ensure that students have the necessary materials throughout the year.

Please remember to label all your child’s items with their name to avoid confusion. We truly appreciate your support in gathering these supplies. Below is a list of the items needed for the upcoming school year.

September Supplies:

• 1 Backpack
• 1 Water bottle
• 1 pencil case
• Two 3-subject wide-ruled notebooks with a plastic cover (2)
• 1 package of wide-ruled loose-leaf paper
• 4 glue sticks
• 1 pair of safety scissors
• 1 pair of headphones (please ensure they are comfortable and durable)
• Two 24-count packages of Ticonderoga pencils
• 1 Pencil sharpener
• 1 Crayola Crayons (box of 24)
• 1 Crayola Colored Pencils (box of 12)
• 1 Crayola Markers ( 8 or 10 count)
• 1 Sandwich-size Ziploc bags
• 1 Gallon-size Ziploc bags
• 2 reams of copy paper
• 6-plastic folders (Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Orange, Purple)
• 1 package of index cards
• 1 package of erasers (pink or pencil-top)
• 1 multi-color pack of highlighters (at least 4 colors)
• 1 package of Expo dry erase markers
• 1 package of construction paper (assorted colors)
• 1 package of Post-it notes
• 2 containers of Clorox wipes
• 2 rolls of paper towels
• 2 bottles of Purell hand sanitizer
• 3 rectangular boxes of Kleenex tissues

 February Replenishment Supplies

A letter will be sent home in January indicating which items are needed):

1. Two containers of Clorox wipes
2. Two rolls of paper towels
3. Two bottles of Purell hand sanitizer
4. Three rectangular boxes of Kleenex tissues
5. Two 24-count packages of Ticonderoga pencils
6. A package of erasers (pink or pencil-top)

Important Note for Lunch:
If your child will be bringing their own lunch, please make sure they have a lunchbox clearly labeled with their name. This will help avoid confusion in the cafeteria.

Helpful Shopping Tips:

As you begin shopping for supplies, we wanted to share a few tips to help you save on school supplies this August. Stores like Staples and Target often have great deals and discounts for back-to-school shopping. Here are a few examples of items from the summer of 2024 you can find at discounted prices. We are anticipating prices during summer of 2025 will be similar.
